The G Running Diary
I'm about to go to bed really early so that I can get up early and run
all weekend. This is the type of thing that makes coworkers think you
are insane. I will start running Saturday morning and expect to be done
Sunday night. Don, Bob, and I decided this back in November, carefully
chose a date, spent this week preparing supplies and receiving promises
of support (!) out there, and so here I am. My feet are taped and my
clothes are laid out ready to go.
The anticipation is that the run will be so hard that the pace will be
really slow. So in my twisted mind, that makes it easier. I can keep
going slowly for a long time. It's when I have to run on flat ground
that I get tired. But who can say?
We expect the hills to be tough. Here is where I find out if the weight
training I did was good enough. Don and I have done a lot of upper body
weight training and some leg weights. With the leg weights you have to
be careful not to overdo it though. It is only two weeks since we ran
the Miwok 100K.
I am excited about being out there for so long. I'm looking forward to
the trails, the wildlife, the sun (I hope), and just being outside. And
even better, I am looking forward to seeing some special people who have
decided to help us out. Without us asking, they just said they wanted
to. That is great.
