The G Running Diary
I'm still dreaming of Badwater. This time it was about all those coolers
we had. They are all in my garage now. The logistics of organizing two
full crews at the same time are amazing. We had to have two of
everything, two rental vans, two cook stoves, two air beds, two boxes of
foot care items, and on and on. The living room was a disaster when it
was full of all this stuff. I felt relieved when we finally loaded up
the vans to drive off to Death Valley--at least my house was now clean!
I ran a little yesterday. It was just for half an hour, but after a run
like Badwater, it feels different. My body felt fine; I have no muscle
soreness. It is different in my head. To go out for only half an hour
after being out there for almost 60 hours seems, well, odd. And even
during that small half hour I stopped to walk. I didn't even think about
it, it just seemed natural.
I can imagine that when I run the Skyline 50K this weekend, my time will
be very slow. I guess one thing I've gotten from my Badwater experience
is the patience to savor the moment. Make it last. There is no need to
be in a hurry to finish because eventually you will get there. So why
then is this week just flying by?
