The G Running Diary
Motivation has been a real problem for me. Sure, I do these long runs on
the weekends. But when it comes to weekday runs, I have all this time on
my hands and I just don't get out there. I don't know why. I just don't
feel like it. It's easier to just stay inside, or run errands that
require driving, so there is no time for a run. I tell myself that if I
ran first thing in the morning, I would do it, but then I don't even
want to get out of bed.
So, when a minor moment of inspiration struck, I seized it. I was
looking out the window at this break in the clouds, at how it had been
miserable and gloomy and was now sunny with the high clouds parting. And
all the water on the ground was drying up. I could get out there and run
a little. Without thinking any more about it, I got changed and went out
the door. Everything felt fine, and when I returned after 30 minutes, I
stopped to look at the sky. The color was weird, kind of black and
yellow. I went in the house to get the key to the mailbox, and that's
when the clouds decided to dump. I had missed the downpour during my
run, but got it on my trip to the mailbox. It didn't matter though,
because I did my run. And I can see again.
