The G Running Diary
I made it over to Mission Peak on Sunday for a training run. It was a
while since I'd been there. I spent almost the whole time trying to
decide whether to go up once or twice. Would twice be too much? Would
once be enough? I was planning to run something the
next weekend, whether a marathon or 50M. 2x might be too much on a
pre-race weekend. It just came down to what time I would get home, so I
went for the once up. There were other people out there, most on their
way down, but some still going up. I didn't pay a whole lot of
attention.
I wore the Brooks Adrenaline trail shoes with double layer socks and
modified shoe inserts. I don't have any leg pain anymore, which is good,
although I am still cautious. I think a little work on the wobble board
is a good idea. And stretching, and massage with a foam roller. Funny
that runners forget all about these things when they are healthy. After
you get injured then you remember all the things you were supposed to be
doing. It seems time consuming, but being injured takes a lot more time
than a 10 minute stretch.
Running down the mountain was fun, and didn't hurt, so I was happy. I
felt like I could have gone up again, which is a good way to end a
workout. I wandered around a little to cool down and found old plastic
bottles to pick up and throw away. That made me happy too. My big toes
were a little unhappy. They rub in these shoes, but that seems like a
minor problem.
